Our Story: Born Out of a Passion for Natural Skincare
Bio Claire® was founded in 1995 by biochemist Claire Johnson. Early in her career while working in the beauty industry, Claire became dismayed by the synthetic ingredients used in mainstream skincare products. She knew there had to be a better, more natural way to care for skin.
Claire set out to prove that nature could provide solutions for common skincare concerns like acne, wrinkles, dryness and irritation. She began meticulously researching botanical ingredients used traditionally for their beautifying effects. After months spent formulating in her home lab, Claire finally created a simple facial serum using gentle plant oils and botanical extracts.
When she tested the serum on her own sensitive skin, Claire was amazed by how quickly it absorbed to leave her skin looking smooth and radiant. She knew she was onto something special. Claire shared her serum with friends and family who also raved about the results.
Empowered by the enthusiastic feedback, Claire launched Bio Claire® with a small collection of handcrafted, plant-based skincare products. We began selling at local farmers markets and specialty boutiques in our home state of Oregon.
As word spread about the unique quality and effectiveness of Bio Claire® products, demand grew rapidly. We expanded our product line to include more natural skincare solutions made with ethically harvested ingredients.

Meet Our Founder Claire Johnson
Claire Johnson‘s passion for using nature to reveal beautiful, healthy skin launched the Bio Claire® brand over 25 years ago. As a biochemist and natural skincare pioneer, Claire’s vision and expertise guides every formula we create.
From Lab Coat to Skincare CEO
Claire found her calling in the lab as a biochemistry student researching botanical extracts and their therapeutic properties. While working in the beauty industry after college, she became disillusioned by the synthetic ingredients used in skincare products. Claire returned to her roots combining science and nature to create beautiful, effective skincare.
A Lifelong Love of Nature
